6th grade: 6th grade is in the process of reading Bud, not Buddy with a focus on figurative language, characterization,  and vocabulary. They have also learned about the ToSEEC paragraph structure for informational writing. The students recently wrote about Bud is a survivor and hardships during the Great Depression using text evidence and their own elaboration/reasoning.

7th grade: 7th grade read Castle Diary with a focus on sensory language, character perspectives, and the social order/hierarchy of the Middle Ages. They did a great job in their Socratic Seminar and wrote a diary entry as the poacher, a character from Castle Diary.  Our new novel is The Midwife's Apprentice . While reading, we will learn about mood/tone, protagonist's journey, and theme.
