6th grade: 6th grade is studying module 3: Narrating the Unknown. Our novel within this module is Blood on the River, a historical fiction novel about the Jamestown settlement. We are learning about character and plot development, as well as adding new vocabulary words. Our essential question focuses on how social and environmental factors contributed to Jamestown's development and decline.

7th grade: 7th grade is in the midst of module 3: The Power of Language. The students have analyzed poems and speeches as examples of how language can inspire. They have studied the impact of figurative language, the speaker's delivery/presentation, word choice, text structure, and more.  We have had great discussions in class!
