6th grade: 6th grade is studying module 3: Narrating the Unknown. We recently completed the novel Blood on the River, a historical fiction novel about the Jamestown settlement. The students had a Socratic Seminar this week and are starting an argument writing piece about which character impacted Samuel the most. Our writing piece will include creating and supporting a claim.

7th grade: 7th grade is in the midst of module 3: The Power of Language. We are currently reading Animal Farm with a focus on characterization, historical connections/allegory, persuasive techniques in speeches, vocabulary, and more. We have had great discussions in class! We will study argument writing in module 3 through creating and supporting a claim.
