constitutional convention, age of Jefferson, industrial revolution, westward expansion, Civil War.
8.4Evaluate the impact of different factors, including gender, age, ethnicity and class on groups and individuals during this time period and the impact these groups and individuals have on events of the time.
8.6Use and interpret documents and other relevant primary and secondary sources pertaining to U.S. History from multiple perspectives.

The US Constitution Unit
In this unit, we will:
  • Understand the powers of each branch of government as stated in the Constitution.
  • Understand how citizens can make their voices heard, and change their world, in the political process.
  • Understand the purposes of government as stated in the Constitution and the specific provisions that limit the power of government in order to protect the rights of individuals.    
Essential Questions  
1.  What are the roles and functions of the three branches of government?
2.  What are the rights, liberties, and responsibilities of United States Citizens?
