December News

posted Dec 11, 2012, 2:23 PM by Ann Curtis

The month of December is flying by and we are almost at winter break! It has been an exciting month so far, we had the Freedom Writers Diary teacher Erin Gruwell and her students present a special assembly to our school. We have had amazing field trips to the Motion Lab at Shriners Hospital and participated as fake victims at the UC Davis Disaster day, and that is not even everything. On the 12th and 13th the sophomores will be presenting their Integrated Units for the Addiction project to a panel including our community partners, good luck guys! Our winter formal is this Friday the 14th from 7-10 pm, tickets are still on sale and you don't want to miss this!

We are now enrolling students for next fall, please help us spread the word! We have room at all grades. To enroll you can come to the office and pick up a packet and turn it in to us. If you would like to know what we are all about come to our visit days January 14, February 4, March 4, April 8 and May 6th. All visits are from 9:30 to 10:30am and include a class tour, informational session, a student speaker and time for Q&A. If you cannot make the dates or times listed above please give us a call to schedule a private tour or a shadow day for your student to spend a day on campus. HPHS is a great place to be and I can't wait to see you here!

Happy Holidays!

Hello Jaguar Families!

November has arrived, and with it comes rain, quarter grades, Site Council meetings and holiday breaks. Sign up with the office to get the weekly email with important dates and information, just give us your email address and you will get weekly updates from Ms. Johnson, easy as that.

Monday November 5th is our site council meeting, the agenda is posted in the office and we would love to have you join us.

Grades are submitted this Friday for the quarter, they will be mailed home to you the week before Thanksgiving break but you can check Zangle starting Monday to get a "real time" idea of how your student is doing. Let us know if you need help accessing Zangle.

School Visit Days: Do you know someone who would be perfect to join the Jaguar Family? Have them come check us out on our school visit days, December 3, January 14, February 4, March 4, April 8 and May 6, from 9:30 to 10:30am. See classes in session, get a tour and get to hear from students about the amazing program offered here. This is perfect for 8th grade students for next year OR for current 9-11th grade students looking for a new opportunity!

November 14th is our 9th grade Integrated Unit project presentation from 5:30-7 pm. All family members expected to attend, see what your student has created and play their Catch the Fever game. It should be a great time.

See you soon,

Ms. Curtis

March 2012

posted Mar 5, 2012, 8:30 AM by Ann Curtis

Hello Health Professions Friends and Family!

The month of March has arrived already, and with it comes a very busy schedule. First I would like to recognize the many students who received recognition for academic achievement first semester. Congratulations to all of the students who worked hard to keep up with their work and who have done a great job. All of the students received awards at an assembly and their names are posted in the office. Come by and take a look, they make us all proud. Students with a 3.5 and above, along with their families, are invited to attend an Honor Roll breakfast with us on the 15th of March at 8 am in the library.

Make sure to check out the calendar link on the left, we have a LOT of events taking place this month, far too many to list here. Some highlights are: March 8th, 11th grade Integrated Lessons are being taught in classes on campus, March 13th and 14th is the CAHSEE for all 10th graders, March 16th is the Dance and March 23rd is our Spaghetti Feed fundraiser. Please come and visit, we have many opportunities to get involved and to come and see the great work our students are producing!

Open Enrollment is now closed and the Enrollment Center is sorting applications, if you put in an application you should hear around the first week of April what next steps you need or where your student is placed. If you are still interested in attending HPHS and missed the window for Open Enrollment we should know, by the end of April, how many spots we might have open for the 2012-2013 school year.

Feel free to call with any questions about what is happening at school or enrolling your student!

See you soon,

Ms. Curtis

Time for a Fresh Start

posted Jan 30, 2012, 5:30 PM by Ann Curtis

Hello HPHS Families (and prospective Families!)

Second semester is here and with it comes the opportunity to have a fresh perspective on school! Grades will be sent home by the district but if you have any questions please just give us a call. We received a great recognition at the school board meeting last week and received an award for our Certification! For those of you new to the school we worked hard last year to achieve certification through Linked Learning/ Connect Ed and were one of two schools to be certified! Great job everyone.

As you might be aware Open Enrollment started today and runs through February 10th. Now is the time to reserve your spot for 2012-2013. If you know anyone who is interested please spread the word so they can apply before they lose their spot! Enrolling is very easy, simply complete the online application and designate Health Professions as your choice of schools. Once Open Enrollment closes and the applications are processed by the Enrollment Center students are notified in early March. We look forward to seeing you at Health Professions!

As always, give us a call if you have any questions!
