Hazard’s 5/6 TEAM NEWSLETTER
Our literacy team has been working on the
Literary Elements of Setting and Character.
We have also been practicing fluency by performing Reader’s Theater.
Students have also started their first
writing piece called “Fuzzy Pom”. Ask your child to share his/her project
idea with you!
Our math group has been working
intensively on Equivalent Fractions.
We have been baking cookies, creating assembly lines, and most
recently we have been making I Movie Trailers to teach other people how to
create equivalent fractions. You
are invited to attend our Equivalent Fractions Film Fest on Monday, November
18th from 9-10:00. Please
We have been learning about the three
types of rock and how they form.
Additionally, students had a chance to “pull” their sugar crystals
this week and make scientific observations about their crystal structures.
I have been spending my Wednesdays with
the Sixth Graders, who are working on Learning Contracts about a
self-selected topic. Students will
begin working on their projects this Wednesday!
Report Cards will be issued on Tuesday,
November26th. The 5/6 Team will be
sending home a letter explaining our conference structure and
schedule next week.
