Our Mission

We are the Harry E. James Run for a Reason Run Club! We meet once a week after school to run the extra mile! We are not running just for fun, we are running to help our community, we are running to show we care, we are running to meet a challenging team goal of 1,000,000 steps! We know this is a lot of work, but we are motivated to help! If we make our goal of 1,000,000 steps will you help us? We are looking for sponsors who would be willing to be part of our collaborative team for positive change!

The students voted on our community project and decided that they would like to help the homeless population of Hopewell City. We are looking for donations of hygiene products to make toiletry bags.  If you would like to be part of our team email Sara Fletcher at sfletcher@hopewell.k12.va.us or Crystine Baynard at cbaynard@hopewell.k12.va.us. You can also donate hygiene products anytime to the office at Harry E. James Elementary School.

Donations Needed:

Toothbrush, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, wash rags, floss, lotion, etc.

Every week the students wear pedometers as they run. The students then return and track their steps on a Google form. The students love seeing the needle go up as they enter their steps into the computer!  Some students are running over 5,000 steps every week!  You can keep track of how we are doing on the tracker below!
