Students taking an AP class:

Dear Parent/Guardian of AP Student:                                                                                      December 19, 2018

On December 22, 2017 I plan to meet with all Advanced Placement (AP) enrolled students to discuss the details of signing up to take one or more AP exams here at Homer-Center this coming May. Homer-Center School District has agreed to pay the AP Exam fee for each student who opts to take the exam(s) as long as the unweighted GPA in the given AP course is a 76% or above at the time the tests are ordered in early March 2018. However, as noted in the registration information that was mailed to your home in September, if your child is enrolled in the College in the Classroom program offered through Mt. Aloysius the District will not cover the AP Exam fees for that given course.

The following AP Exams will be given at Homer-Center on the dates listed below- all dates are set by the College Board and are not subject to change:

o   AP English Literature & Composition-  Wed., May 9th, 8am

o   AP US History- Friday, May 11th, 8am- NOTE: this is the day of prom

o   AP Biology- Monday, May 14th, 8am

o   AP Calculus AB- Tuesday, May 15th, 8am

o   AP English Language & Composition, Wed., May 16th, 8am

o   AP Human Geography- Friday, May 18th, 8am

o   AP European History- Friday, May 18th, Noon- this exam will not end until 3:15pm so the student will need to have transportation home

PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE to SIGN UP for all AP Exams is Friday, March 9, 2018.  Sign-up sheets are located in the Guidance Office. Students can sign up for one or more exams by writing their name under the appropriate exam on the sign-up sheet(s). I will place the AP Exam order on Monday, March 12th so there are no exceptions to this sign-up deadline.

If your child is enrolled in a College in the Classroom course and still wishes to take that particular AP Exam he/she can do so by signing up and submitting the $94.00 per AP exam. Also, if your child wishes to take an AP Exam in a course that they are earning below an unweighted 76% he/she can do so by signing up and submitting the $94.00 fee per AP exam.

If you have any questions please contact the Guidance Office at the number listed above.

Thank you!
