Bursting Into December!

The Holy Family School Community has wasted no time “bursting “into December. We have already held several outstanding school supported events!

The 2nd annual Winter Ball was held on December 1st and the event was simply outstanding! This important fundraising effort recognized and highlighted the community contribution of 3 key school supporters.

The Holy Family Youth Service Award, will now, and going forward, be call the Collen Betzal Young Alumni Award. This Award will annually help us fondly remember Collen Betzal, who passed away suddenly in 1997. This year’s recipient was Nicholas William Denton.

The Holy Family Regional School Leadership Award was bestowed on Mr. Lou Robinson. Mr. Robinson has a long history of supporting Catholic Education and is the driving force behind the St. James Scholarship fund, which awards nearly $100,000 of annual support to young Catholic students.

The Holy Family Distinguished Alumni Award was received by Kathleen Sprows Cummings.  Dr. Cummings is a professor at Notre Dame University and a leading expert on the history of Catholic religious women. She graduated from our school halls in 1985.

Honoring our special guest, having fun and raising funds Holy Family were accomplished outcomes of this year’s event. Mark your calendars for December 7, 2019!!

A very special thanks to Mr. William DeFeo, who led this very fun and successful event. Mr. DeFeo is a tireless contributor to our school! Thanks Bill!

Christmas Show “A Spiritual Centering”!

The school wide Christmas Pageant held on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church was remarkable. The event featured the singing and drama collaboration of all students in grades K-8! The evening was beautifully preformed and the message of Advent and our joyous anticipation of Christ’s birth took center stage!

Thanks to all for coming and to all teachers and staff for making this such a lovely event!

Grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 to Experience an Advent Retreat

Thanks, in a large part, to our collaborative relationship with the Sisters of St. Francis and Neumann University, our students in grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be visiting the Franciscan Spirituality Center on December 13th for a morning Advent retreat.

The Retreat will be directed by Sr. Julia Keegan, and plans to provide our students with time to reflect, discuss and pray on “gratitude”. We hope, that this event during these busy holiday times, will help our students keep foremost in their minds the true meaning and value of the Christmas and Advent seasons.

Watch for more great collaboration with Holy Family and Neumann University!

Recess Reminders!

Parents please remember that, on most days, our students will be going outside for recess—students should bring coats, gloves and hats daily!

Clearances for Volunteers - An Important Reminder

In order to volunteer for school activities, both inside and outside of the classroom, State and Archdiocesan clearances must be completed, and copies turned into the School Business Office.

It is especially important that new volunteers look at the Protecting God’s Children class schedule through virtusonline for info on dates, times and locations.

All clearances must be submitted to the Business Office by 12/7/18 to be considered for any volunteer opportunities during the school year

More clearance information can be found on the Safe Environment Page of our website.
