Shining Our Light - Rooted in Faith...

October and Month of the Holy Rosary: Living Rosary Friday, October 11, at 9:03 in Degnan Hall.

To help all students recognize and learn more about our faith we will have a school wide event surrounding the Month of the Rosary - October.

Our school will participate in praying a “living Rosary” on Friday morning at 9:30 in Degnan Hall. The prayers will all be led by selected students and the school will fully embrace this wonderful gift from Mary.

Shining Your Light: St. Joan of Arc  - School Mass October...

As our school prepares each month for our whole school mass, our classrooms will be discussing a specific Saint and their virtues. We will make efforts to include readings during mass which will support the virtues of this Saint and link our “learning about Saints” to our celebration of the liturgy. We hope this thematic approach will increased the active participation of all students.

The Saint for October is Saint Joan of Arc. The link here is a short overview of her life and importance to our church. https://youtu.be/jLk3vBZivFY

St. Joan of Arc was noted to have been incredibly sympathetic to those in need, particularly in her youth. Her quest to help France was filled stories of her persevering over obstacles. Her willingness to stick to her beliefs and fight for her cause point out her strong conviction. Sympathy, Perseverance and Conviction are the virtues all student will discuss as we lead up to the October School Mass.

At the close of our mass we will recognize one student from each class who best mirrors the virtues of St. Joan of Arc.

St. Francis and our Youngest Students...

Thanks to great organization by our teachers in grades prek-3, 4, kindergarten and first grade, our youngest student celebrated the Feast of St. Francis on Friday, October 4th.

Fr. Michael led our students in a wonderful and holy celebration, which included a blessing of the animals - students were encouraged to bring in their favorite stuffed animals.

Father led the children in both prayer and song.

Thanks Father and all who helped make this event so special!

Archdiocesan Lessons on Safe Environment...

In accordance with all Archdiocese Schools of Philadelphia, our teachers provide students in each grade level pk-8, two Safe Environment lessons each year. One lesson is taught in the Fall and the other in the Spring. The Fall lesson will be completed prior to November 27, 2019 and the Spring prior to May 15, 2020.

Students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade will be taught grade level lessons. These can be found on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia website at http://www.aopcatholicschools.org/about/programs/

Parents have the option of having their child excused from these lessons by completing the “Request to be Excused”  form below and returning it to school.
