Welcome Back and Wise Words from Pope Frances to Start the Year!

What a great Holiday Season! The generosity and blessings shared from the Holy Family Community brought great joy to our staff and each of our individual families. Writing for our entire staff, it is a real blessing to work with such an amazing school community. Thank you all!

As we all move into 2019 it may do us well to consider some of the wise words shared by Pope Frances during his visit to Philadelphia.

“Perfect families do not exist. This must not discourage us. Quite the opposite. Love is something we learn; love is something we live; love grows as it is 'forged' by the concrete situations which each particular family experiences. Love is born and constantly develops amid lights and shadows. Love can flourish in men and women who try not to make conflict the last word, but rather a new opportunity. An opportunity to seek help, an opportunity to question how we need to improve, an opportunity to discover the God Who is with us and never abandons us. This is a great legacy that we can give to our children, a very good lesson: we make mistakes, yes; we have problems, yes. But we know that that is not really what counts. We know that mistakes, problems and conflicts are an opportunity to draw closer to others, to draw closer to God.” -- Address to Festival of Families, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, Sept. 27, 2015

At our school, we will take heed of this advice. We work hard to learn, live and grow in our love of God. As the year unfolds our entire staff will be joining you in helping our children to learn, embrace and flourish in God’s love! Happy New Year!

Sad News...

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Paula Gaspero on Monday, January 7, 2019. Holy Family has been a second home to Mrs. Gaspero. Many of you will remember her kind and gentle greeting when she answered the door every afternoon in Aftercare, always asking "How Ya Doing"? Paula has walked these halls since she was six years old, attending Saint Joseph School before we became Holy Family RCS. Her son, Noah, also attended our school and Paula was always volunteering her time whenever and wherever she was needed. She will be greatly missed. Please keep her family in your prayers. We will inform you of funeral arrangements.

Eagles Mayhem!

As we follow the “Eagles Flight Plan” toward the Super Bowl, our school will continue to use Friday’s as our rallying day!

This Friday, everyone can swap their uniforms for eagle’s wear and or their official gym uniforms! Fly Eagles Fly—bring on the Eagles gear this Friday –January 11, 2019

Back In Form...

Our students have done a great job returning to school with a great learning attitude for 2019. Our teachers are busily trying to build a learning rhythm and helping each student get the most from their efforts. At home, please continue to support the basics of homework completion, daily preparations and readiness.

We will be holding outside recess, unless temperatures are sub-freezing—this means students should come to school prepared with coats, hats and gloves—your reminders and help is appreciated.

Also, heads up on bad weather: remember the best way to be up to speed on cancellations is the Option C email blasts—if you are not receiving those—please contact the school office.

2019 Catholic Schools Week: Learn, Serve, Lead and Succeed!

2019 Catholic School’s week is approaching quickly! We will be celebrating the week starting Sunday, January 27th and concluding on Friday, February 1st. A full agenda will and more information will be coming…but for those many parents anxious to participate in the Student Parent/Staff volleyball Game—plan to be limbered up and be ready to play on Wednesday, January 30th at 1:15 PM in Degnan Hall!!

Watch for more updates!!
