Welcome to Holy Angels School Computer Class!

I am Catherine Fuerte, the computer teacher, tech-person at Holy Angels Elementary School in Colma, CA.  I support the administrators, teachers, staff and students in their effort to infuse technology in most of the things they do at school.

Technology is a rich and dynamic resource for classroom use. It is fun, engaging and becomes more meaningful when integrated in the curriculum. I collaborate with classroom teachers to develop strategies for applying technology to the academic curriculum.  I meet with them every week to plan and develop lessons, fun projects and activities integrated with what the students are currently learning in the classroom that encourage creativity and innovation. Projects include word processing, creating slide shows, movie making, converting data to charts, researching, website creation, blogging, online journaling, wiki collaboration, online drills, drawing, etc. We use Google Apps for Education to collaborate and communicate. Teachers and students learn how to blog and create their own websites using Sites.

Our technology plan's primary goal is to seamlessly integrate technology into every aspect of curriculum, teaching, communicating and professional growth. All our students, instructional and non-instructional staff will be responsible 21st century learners, authors and problem solvers, able to seek and use information and communicate effectively and to pursue real-world learning and work using technology.

Smartphones and tablets can be pricey, but they definitely pay off. I consider them valuable investments especially if they are loaded with apps that will help a child learn and become more organized and productive.
