Meeting in the Time of Coronavirus

In keeping with Governor Whitmer's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order, Western Theological Seminary will be closed at least through 13 April 2020. During that time, our Meeting for Worship will be held virtually, via either Zoom or Google Meets (= Google Hangouts). If you're not already receiving email updates about this and would like to join us, please email gmurray@hollandquakers.org.

No meeting on 29 December 2019!

Due to the holiday shutdown of the part of Western Theological Seminary where we usually meet, there will be no meeting for worship on this 5th Sunday. Those who are interested in getting together for fellowship anyway will meet for breakfast at 9:30 at Community Kitchen, which is also held in the seminary at 101 E. 13th St. Use the main entrance to the west of where we usually enter for meeting.

Green Pastures Quarterly Meeting - Fall 2016

When: Saturday, September 17, 2016, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Where: Michigan Friends Center (7748 Clark Lake Rd, Chelsea, MI 48118)

Program includes:
o   Natalie Holbrook , American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) Michigan Director to talk about the Michigan Criminal Justice Program, including The Good Neighbor Project
o   Singing  led by Thomas Taylor (Ann Arbor)
o   Walking the trails of Friends Lake
o   Updates on the upcoming clerking workshop led by Art Larrabee; on Michigan Quakers for Environmental Action (MQEA),  and on Friends School.
o   Meeting for Worship for the Conduct of Business
o   Lunch arranged by Birmingham Friends ($7.50 suggested donation)
o   Youth program by Red Cedar Meeting
o   Time to get to know and to form bonds with fellow Quakers  and with the natural world.

Annual Muste Lecture to Consider the Power of Nonviolence

Dr. David Cortright will present the address “The power of nonviolence: Why peaceful methods are more effective than the use of force” on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music through the A.J. Muste Memorial Lecture Series at Hope College.

We Have Faith Exhibit on Display at Hope Church

A photo exhibit entitled, We Have Faith, will be on display in the Gathering Area at Hope Church, November 3–17, 2013. We Have Faith is a museum-quality traveling photo-text exhibit featuring well-known LGBT and allied clergy and people of many faiths and denominations, including Christians, Jews and Muslims. A public open house will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2-4 p.m. with comments at 3 p.m. All are invited to experience this exceptional and inspiring resource that will open minds and hearts. Expanded Meeting Schedule

The meeting has been given approval from Western Theological Seminary for us to meet there on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of every month, rather than just the second Sunday as we've been doing for the last couple of years.

Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream workshop at Michigan Friends Center, Saturday, October 6, 2012

All are invited to participate in a day-long (9:30 – 3:30) workshop at Michigan Friends Center on Saturday, October 6, entitled “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream.”

The workshop has been designed to help “bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on Earth.” The day will include presentations, videos, discussions and meditation periods. The workshop has been developed by the international Pachamama Alliance, with participation from many leading figures and organizations, including Voices for Earth Justice.

Lunch will be provided. The event is free; a contribution toward the cost of lunch will be accepted.
