Henry Ford Academy is a FREE, public charter, college preparatory high school.
HFA is uniquely located inside inside Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum. Ninth grade students attend classes in The Henry Ford Museum. Students in 10th - 12th grades attend classes in Greenfield Village.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
We are extremely proud of our graduating seniors of the Class of 2015. Due to their hard work and dedication they were awarded $2,549,853 in grants and scholarships! In addition, 100% of our Class of 2015 graduating seniors were accepted to a college, university, technical college, U.S. Marine Corps or U.S. Air Force.
LATER START TIME
Following Best Practices outlined by the National Education Association (nea), HFA runs on a trimester system with block scheduling of classes. The school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm. We feel all of these practices contribute to our attendance rate of 97%.
ACE PROGRAM, DUAL ENROLLMENT
Understanding that not all students are at the same academic level, HFA allows students who qualify to participate in the Accelerated Curriculum Experience (ACE) and Dual Enrollment programs. The ACE program offers 9th grade students the opportunity to test out of some 9th grade classes which then allows them to take upper level classes during the 9th grade year. This moves students through the HFA curriculum at an accelerated pace and allows them to qualify for Dual Enrollment during their junior and senior years. Dual Enrollment allows 11th and 12th graders who are eligible to receive college credit while in high school by enrolling in classes at Henry Ford Community College.
COLLEGE CAMPUS FIELD TRIPS
Henry Ford Academy promotes a college culture. Each year students are taken on field trips to visit colleges. Students tour local, in-state, and out of state colleges. Representatives from several colleges and universities visit our campus each fall allowing HFA students to apply and be interviewed onsite for immediate acceptance.
ATHLETICS, STUDENT ACTIVITIES
All students are encouraged to participate in the after school activities, student organizations and athletic programs the Academy offers. Students who are eligible are also invited to participate in the German Foreign Exchange program and the Spanish Travel Abroad program.
SENIOR MASTERY PROCESS
All HFA students must complete the Senior Mastery Process (SMP), a supervised work-based learning experience. The SMP allows students to explore a career path they find interesting with the help of a mentor within that career. Students begin planning for the SMP their freshmen year as they develop their Educational Development Plan (EDP). By the end of the SMP students demonstrate and increase in their self-confidence and social maturity and have an increased awareness of their own interests, abilities, and skills to assist them in identifying and setting up future career and personal goals.
