My name is Shara Marbry going into my 3rd year here at Henry Ford Academy Elementary School and 12th year of teaching. I am looking forward to having your child in the gym learning physical education. During the week your child will have a minimum of 50 minutes of physical activity, on a three day rotating bases (please see your child’s specials schedule that is also in this blog).
Majority ofclass time will be spent on skill development activities, fitness and game related activities. Students will work to improve their PERSONAL fitness levels, strengthen fundamental motor skills, and use sport related social skills such as cooperation, fair play, and dealing with winning and losing.
I often brag that I have the best job in education because I get to play all day with kids in the gym. Although we play hard, rest assured that I am a highly qualified teacher who is certified in physical and dance education. I received my Bachelor’s of Science and Masters’ of Art degrees in education and athletic administration at Wayne State University. So not only will we have fun in the gym, but the fun will be wrapped up in best practices in the field of education.
In order for students to benefit from the lessons and to ensure everyone’s safety, I am asking that you and your child work together in following these guidelines for participation in physical education:
- Make sure they have proper fitting athletic footwear or they will not be allowed to participate.
- If your child needs to sit out due to injury or sickness, please notify me in written form explaining why.
- If your child has any limitations or aspects of their health that I should be aware of, please let me know in written form.
- My office hours are Tuesdays - Fridays mornings at 8:30- 9:00 am and Tuesdays evenings until 4:30 pm.
Looking forward to “having an ball” this school year!
