About Me!

Hello! I am Katie Yekin and I am the new Special Education Teacher at Henry Ford Academy Elementary SchoolI graduated from Michigan State University in May 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education-Learning Disabilities with a teaching major in Mathematics. During the 2015-16 school year I completed a year-long student teaching internship at a public elementary school in Oak Park, MI. From August to December I student taught in a 3rd grade general education classroom. From January to April I student taught in a classroom serving students in grades 1-6 that were cognitively or emotionally impaired. I then travelled to Redford, MI where I taught for 2 months as long term sub in a resource room. I am certified to teach Special Education-Learning Disabilities grades K-12, Elementary Education-All Subjects grades K-5, and Mathematics grades 6-8. I am really excited to begin my first year of teaching at Henry Ford Academy Elementary School, I have fallen in love with the students and the community already!
