The Interhouse Pi Competition 2017 is an enormous success  Gideon whips Maccabi and Samson!
The names of this year's entrants will go onto the World Pi Ranking list
Gr 7 Ruby Chames, Adam Selikowitz overall winner with 301 digits and Luca Williams. 

Gr 8 Sasha Dave, Dylan Friedman winner with 224 digits and Darren Moore. 

Gr 9 Eva Maraney, Jay Barnett, and winner Ruby Epstein with 82 digits. 
SPOT THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION
Watch the International Space Station pass overhead from several thousand worldwide locations. It is the third brightest object in the sky and easy to spot if you know when to look up.
Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fastmoving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!
How Fast Can You Learn?
The graphic below compares the speed of learning to speed of travel from San Francisco to London.
 Learning by reading: 1833 hours – Chances of getting there: low
 Learning through school: 366 hours  Chances of getting there: low
 Learning with a mentor (e.g.extra lesson teacher): 85 hours  Chances of getting there: 50/50

Mathematics Support at the Middle School
Maths Tutorials: Thursday  Lesson 7
The Maths Department will be offering tutorials once a week for every grade. This will be an opportunity for pupils to consolidate work done in class. Pupils will be required to sign up for tutorials. A teacher will be available to assist pupils with work they may not have mastered in lessons. All pupils are invited to make use of the tutorials.
Maths Homework and Consolidation Extra Murals
Monday  Thursday 15:00 to 15:45
The Maths Department run Maths Homework and consolidation sessions every afternoon. As only a limited number of pupils can attend these extra mural sessions, preference will be given to pupils who specifically need support.
