The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is a federally funded program administrated in Mississippi by the Mississippi Department of Education. It is named in honor of Senator Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia. The program is open to all graduating high school seniors and eligible General Education Development (GED) recipients in Mississippi.
The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate academic merit and show promise of continued excellence in post-secondary education. This scholarship is not awarded based on financial need.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship must complete and submit an application. An official high school transcript must accompany the application or academic record, ACT or SAT scores and an essay entitled: Why I Intend to Go to College.

This scholarship is NOT BASED ON FINANCIAL NEED, and can be used at any college/university in the country, as long as the student is still considered a Mississippi resident. Up to $1,500 per year, renewable for 4 years!
