This term's topic
Our topic for this term is Indonesia
This term we will be learning all about the country. We have planned as a class and the children have decided that they would like to particularly learn about palm oil and how people in Indonesia live. We will be comparing lives in Indonesia to ours here in Merthyr. Every Friday we plan our ways forward so children will be active in voicing their ideas to take their learning to the next step.
Please ensure your child has a P.E kit on their peg. Our PE session is on a Thursday
Your child will read with an adult once fortnightly. They will also read daily in group and individual situations during Guided reading sessions.
Children have allocated reading days. If you are unsure of your child's reading day please contact me.
Our class visit to the school library will take place on a Friday
Homework is given out on a Friday to be handed in on the following Friday. Details of homework will be posted below every week.
This week's homework
Homework for the Easter break
I have put a link for National Test practice on Google Classroom. Please give these a try over the 2 week break.
There is also a Doodle Maths competition. Practice all skills and on the Monday we come back to school, I will announce the winners- pob lwc!
Learning at home
To support your child at home, please ensure that you read regularly with them. The document above will give you useful tips to help you get the best out of reading with your child.
Times tables are fundamental for learning different aspects of mathematics such as division, algebra, long multiplication, fractions, decimals and percentages. For students that don't have a solid grasp of the times tables, they may find these other areas to be hard to understand as well. Please encourage your child to learn times tables at home.
