Department Congratulates Reno Prize Recipients

posted Apr 30, 2012, 6:12 PM by Sean Joyce

The Department of Computer Science congratulates Donald Hoover and Brian Melton, the first-ever recipients of the Reno Prizes in Computing. The awards were presented at the Student Awards Celebration on Friday, April 27, 2012.
Sophomore Hoover received the Martin A. Reno Emerging Scholar Prize, while graduating senior Melton was awarded the Martin A. Reno Senior Scholar prize.
These new annual prizes are awarded in memory of Dr. Martin A. Reno.  Dr. Reno wore many hats on campus, including faculty liaison to the Athletic department, Chairman of both the Physics and Computer Science departments, and Associate Vice President for Information resources. Dr. Reno retired from Heidelberg in 2006 after 40 years of service to the university; sadly, he passed away in 2011.
Dr. Reno’s wife Carol, also a longtime member of the Heidelberg community, was a guest at the ceremony and spent time talking with the award recipients afterward.
We congratulate Donald and Brian and are grateful to the Reno family for establishing these awards in Dr. Reno’s honor.

We've received the following note about a potential opportunity at Ballreich Bros, Inc. (in Tiffin):

We are currently looking into some new opportunities and in doing so have stumbled across an opportunity for a qualified student.  We are developing a website and were wondering if you had any student that would be interested in doing a project with flash player to post on the site.  Other than the obviously valuable experience that the student would be receiving, we are open to suggestions as far as “What’s in it for me?"
