What Sets Us Apart

"Our life mission is to passionately and generously inspire, empower, and heal, our family, friends, patients, and people we have yet to meet so they may achieve total balance in their lives."
CHCC - Dr. Russ Revilla and Dr. Kimberly Rollheiser-Revilla

We are not your average chiropractic office! Husband and wife and partners, Dr. Russell Revilla and Dr. Kimberly Rollheiser-Revilla, are experienced and highly skilled chiropractic doctors.

Through their experiences, the doctors have developed unique clinical approaches to treating many different problems and are skilled at helping you balance and heal your WHOLE BODY, structurally, chemically and emotionally.

Most chiropractic offices limit their treatment to acute care like back pain, neck pain, or pain due to a recent accident or injury. Their purpose is Pain Relief. In contrast, our office treats people for BOTH acute and chronic conditions, and also helps patients keep and maintain their overall health.

We seek to correct as thoroughly as possible the CAUSE of the problem! Nerve stress (structural) is generally the CAUSE of most chronic functional problems. You can be tested to determine if this is true for you.

We will do everything we can to help you achieve total balance and wellness in your lives. Each patient that comes to see us gets a thorough consultation to pinpoint any problems that exist. A complete physical examination, (structurally, chemically and emotionally) will be done to determine the cause(s). This examination will probably be much more thorough than you have ever received before! After all the information is gathered, we will develop a treatment plan that will most effectively help you achieve your health goals. Your entire family can enjoy the benefits of the chiropractic lifestyle; our family does.

The Triad of Health
CHCC - Triad of Health

There are three (3) basic factors to consider in maintaining or restoring natural health. They form an equilateral triangle in maintaining health. If one side of the triad becomes deficient, diminished health results and may lead to a significant health problem. Only by carefully observing all sides of the equilateral triangle can the total health of a person be evaluated and treated if necessary. Depending on a doctor's background, education, and general interest there is a tendency to concentrate only on the examination and treatment on one side of the triad. Although this approach may improve symptoms, it often leaves important root causes of the problem undetected and uncorrected. Comprehensive Health and Chiropractic Center is unique in that we help our patients to balance all three aspects of their health (structural, chemical and emotional).

CHCC - The importance of Body Structure

Structure deals with much more than the obvious factors such as slipping and twisting an ankle or injuring your neck and back. Your nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. The spinal cord (protected by the spinal bones) is the communication pathway between the brain and your entire body. Nerves, connected to the spinal cord, tell your body what to do and how to operate correctly. If a spinal bone (called a vertebrae) is out of place, pressure may be placed on a nerve. When a nerve has pressure on it, it will give you a problem. If it is a nerve that transmits pain, you would get pain. If the nerve is in your neck and it controls blood to the brain, you will get headaches. If pressure is on a nerve that goes to your sinuses, your sinuses will become over-sensitive and allergies can develop. Removing pressure from whatever nerve or nerves that are affected restores proper function.

CHCC - The importance of Chemical Balancing

If the chemical side of the triangle is involved, poor health can result in many different ways. One factor is poisoning. Not all poisoning results in an immediate dramatic health problem. You may be slowly taking poisons into your body from a variety of sources. These sources may include small amounts of gas leaking from your furnace, from pesticides on the food you eat, from drugs you take or from the chemicals with which you clean your home. These toxins slowly build up in the body over time, resulting in impaired health.

Nutritional deficiencies are included in the chemical side of the triangle. Malnutrition is an increasing problem in the United States because of the refining of foods, dietary indiscretion, and depletion of the soil in which foods are grown. Again, the problem is insidious in nature, often not resulting in a classic malnutrition disease but causing a general health loss. Sometimes the chemical imbalance can be from taking too much of a certain vitamin or by taking fractionated or synthetic vitamins that can actually rob the body of nutrients. Before taking any vitamin products, you should receive a thorough nutritional exam and nutritional products should be prescribed and used in keeping with your body's individual needs.

CHCC - The importance of Emotional Health

There is no question that a person's mental attitude affects their health. Observe how a headache often goes away when you get involved in something you enjoy! However, there is more involved here than an individual's general "moods". Research has shown that many psychiatric conditions are the direct result of physiologic involvements. Mood swings or continual depression can be the result of low blood sugar or blood sugar handling stress. Hyperkinesis in children may be the result of disorganization of the nervous system. Postural changes affect emotions, as shown by the research of F.M. Alexander. The effects of emotions on your nervous system can be evaluated with applied kinesiology techniques.

Your emotions can play havoc with what is happening in your spine. Next time your back goes out and you can’t think of a single thing you did “physically” that could have caused you to tie up in knots: Think about what has been happening emotionally in your life and therein may lay your cause. It's possible that you may be worrying too much about things at the time. It could be a moment in your life when you're bothered by work-related problems, overdue credit card payments and finding the right life insurance scheme, a bad relationship - anything that can cause emotional stress.

Your spine can play havoc with your emotions: Over the years we have seen lots of people suffering with what are loosely termed, “chronic pain syndromes”. Some of these people initially suffered a physical injury. Before that point/period of time they were emotionally “well-adjusted”. Now they are depressed or emotionally volatile, plus suffering with any number of other “mental” problems. They are shunted from doctor to doctor and put on antidepressants (and stronger pills), and told that their pain and depression is “all in their mind”. Nonsense! There physical malfunction has damaged their “brain reward cascade” and is limiting their ability to have any normal emotional “chemical reactions”. Until their “therapy” includes the spine, they will not see long-term improvements. On a less dramatic level, if your spine is “out of whack”, there is a chance your emotions will be “out of whack” too. If you’re grumpy, ask yourself how long has it been since you had an adjustment before analyzing what you’re worrying about.

Occasionally when we start to adjust your spine, you may experience some changes in your emotions. Usually positive ones, but sometimes as you start to peel back through layers of tension in your spine and spinal cord, these levels of tension can trip off memories and emotions attached to the point in time when you first arrived at that level of tension. If you are feeling like your mind is in a state of upheaval, let us know, as this may be due to these “memories” being rekindled. (Sometimes this may mean past unresolved issues may need some additional support.)

Bottom line: If your spine is getting tight – your “nerves” will be getting tense. If your emotions are getting strung-out – your spine will be winding up. When we release your spine – your emotions will relax. When you unwind your mind – your spine will release.

The sides of the triad interact with each other
When there is constant structural strain, it may adversely influence an individual's emotions. Emotions affect the digestive system, which interferes with normal digestion of the food a person eats; because of this, the chemical side of the triangle may become involved and a nutritional deficiency may develop. Muscle weakness may result that increases the structural strain, again completing the vicious cycle.
