Queens University Enrichment Studies Unit      May 6 to May 11   2018
for any student in Grades 9-12.  It is strongly recommended you go to this if you are planning to go to university.  This gives you a quick look at university life and courses.

EngAGE at Queen's University in Summer 2018! (click on title for more detail)

EngAGE (the Queen’s Engineering Academy Guided Experience) is an engineering-focused educational summer program that exposes you to the main engineering fields of Chemical, Civil, Electrical & Computing, and Mechanical engineering.

EngAGE presents students with a broad engineering overview, using lab facilities and thought-provoking projects to inform and engage students without being technically overwhelming.

The program runs from July 18th to August 19th.  The residence program includes: on-campus residence with three meals/day, full time supervision and supervised activities each evening.

Oratorical Contest (click on title for more detail)

Optimist Club of Oakville presents its annual oratorical contest.

The topic this year is "How My Best Brings Out the Best in Others".

Prepare a 4-5 minute speech on the above topic.  Further information and rules can be found on their website here

G(irls)20 is coming to Argentina for the 9th annual Global Summit. 20+ young women from around the world will arrive in Buenos Aires for a week of leadership training, social enterprise development and mentoring by female leaders in the business and public sectors. Delegates contribute the economic and social issues facing girls & women in their countries to a Communiqué delivered to world leaders in advance of the G20 Summit and leave the Summit with increased confidence, new skills, and a global network that will allow them to make change as community and global advocates!

Summit 2018 Key Dates

March 8 – April 9, 2018: Application posted.

May 2018: Shortlisted Candidates will be invited by email to an interview over Skype

June 2018: Both successful and unsuccessful candidates notified by email

June – October 2018: Pre-summit work takes place online.

October 14 – October 20, 2018: The 9th annual Global Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

Girls on Boards 2018 Application     Deadline May 14, 2018

Girls on Boards places community minded, motivated and trained young women living in Canada, between the ages of 18 -25, on non-profit governance boards in their communities. After completing online trainings and several months of coaching with a G(irls)20 approved coach, young women (“Future Board Members”) begin their 1-year term on the board.
