Welcome to Semester 2!

Hi everyone!

I am Ms. Podio and, since you're on my website, I am likely teaching you math this semester.  I'm looking forward to a semester full of questions, learning, and fun - and I hope you are too!

I'm willing to help you with whatever questions you have so always feel free to come see me during period 3 or 4, or after school if you don't have a chance to ask in class. Asking on-topic questions is the easiest way to improve your mark in school - so don't be afraid to ask!

My History

I grew up in Hamilton and went to Barton Secondary School.  After high school, I went to The University of Western Ontario, where I studied Honours Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Evolution.  In 2007/2008 I decided to stay at Western to complete my Bachelors of Education.

One of the major reasons I became a teacher is my interest in summer camping.  I've worked for over 15 years at a camp on the shores of Lake Huron called Camp Kintail.  In 2005, I was lucky enough to spend a summer running a Leader In Training program; helping 16 year olds learn how to be great leaders at camp and in their home communities.  Working with these young people inspired me to want to continue working with teens, helping them to see exactly how much they can achieve when they work hard and do their best.

Since graduating from teachers college, I spent a year teaching in London, England and have taught at several schools in the Halton District School Board, including White Oaks, M.M. Robinson, Abbey Park, Milton District, Robert Bateman and Dr. Frank J Hayden.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the community at Abbey Park and look forward to working with you and helping you to achieve your very best!
