Welcome to Grade 3!

Let's get started ...
My e-mail address is smiths@hdsb.ca and the school phone number is 905-637-3881.  Please don't hesitate to email or call.

Students will receive an agenda that travels between home and school daily. A parent or guardian should initial it, then return it to school every day. Use the right side of the agenda to write notes to me (e.g., appointments, questions).  I check for messages each morning.

Arrival and Dismissal
Students should arrive by 9:10 and enter through the primary doors at the east side of the school. Please lock scooters at the bike racks rather than bringing them into the school.  Leaving scooters outside makes for a safer entry and exit on the stairs and saves valuable instructional space inside the classroom.  If students are late, please sign-in at the office.  The school day ends at 3:45, and students will exit via the same doors they entered.

Lunch and Recess
Lunch break and outdoor play begin 10:55 until 11:45.  A second snack break and outdoor play time begin at 1:25 until 2:05.  Students will go outside for the first half of the break, then return to the classroom to eat during the second half.  Please pack both a lunch and a snack for later in the day.
What Students Need to Bring to School
  • Indoor Shoes:  For safety and classroom cleanliness, please ensure students have a pair of indoor running shoes for the classroom and the gym that can be left at school.  Slip on shoes or Crocs may not be worn for physical education.
  • Earbuds/headphones:  Please label with your name and place in a ziploc bag or pouch for storage.
  • Pencil Sharpener:  Please choose a sharpener that holds shavings.
  • Large Glue Stick
  • Pencils, coloured pencils, crayons, poster markers, paper and notebooks will be provided in the classroom.  Students may bring their own if they wish.
The Halton District School Board requires all volunteers to provide an original Criminal Record Check including a "Vulnerable Sector Screening" prior to the commencement of volunteer duties, including the supervision of field trips.  These checks can take a few weeks to process and must be requested by going in person to a Halton Regional Police station with appropriate identification.

Looking forward to a great year!
