Welcome

About me:

Bonjour! Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Sophie Woodill, and I am thrilled to be part of the Pineland community this year. My family background is French Canadian and Portuguese. Growing up, I lived in Burlington, and was enrolled in the French Immersion program as a student! My experiences in French Immersion have been extremely rewarding, and have allowed me to develop a true love and dedication to the French language. In my spare time, I love to read, sing, run, travel, and spend time with my dog, Sadie. My favourite summer moment was travelling to Europe with my husband on a Mediterranean cruise where I visited many parts of Italy, Spain, and France! I am very much looking forward to an exciting year in Grade 2. We have lots to learn together, and I’m sure we are going to have a blast!

A few things…

Zippees! -Your child will be using a zippee throughout the year, and they are responsible for bringing it home and returning it to school daily. Please check your child’s Zippee each night for any newsletters, teacher notes, homework activities, and school updates.

Library: Our class will be visiting the Library once a week. We are currently scheduled for Friday afternoons. Students will borrow one French book, and one English book. These books are to be returned before the following library visit.

Class Website: Please visit our class website throughout the year to learn more about helpful resources, curriculum, and current learning topics. Our website will grow as the year progresses. Thank you for your interest in your child's education. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me through email.

Google Classroom: This year, we will be using Google Classroom to communicate regularly about important updates, due dates, and special events. Google Classroom is a space that students have access to through their Halton e-mail account. The purpose of this space this year will be to keep a log of all messages/notes sent out to families, but assignments will not be posted on the google classroom page in Grade 2.

Parents/guardians must accept an invitation (which was sent via e-mail) to receive regular updates and reminders sent as individual e-mail messages. Guardians will not have access to the google classroom space since a Halton email address is required.
