Welcome to Grade 9 Core French! Bienvenue au cours de français cadre neuvième année! 

This course emphasizes the further development of oral communication, reading, and writing skills. Students will build on and apply their knowledge of French while exploring a variety of themes, such as relationships, social trends, and careers. Thematic readings, which include a selection of short stories, articles, and poems, will serve as stepping stones to oral and written activities.

Bienvenue à FSF1D! 

Through out this course, we will be using the Google Classroom on a daily basis. The course calendar (see above) will be updated on a regular basis so that you may see what we will be doing each day in class a bit in advance. 

Unit 1 - Mon identité (My identity)

This is a great opportunity for all of us to get to know each other! Please see course calendar for day-to-day instructions. Students have access to our Google Classroom, where they can find all of their assignments. 

This unit will focus on the following grammatical concepts:
- present tense verbs (both regular and irregular)
- reflexive verbs
- adjectives 
- comparatives

Students will be improving their oral and written language skills through out the semester and they will be showing these off these skills through a variety of different activities!

Unit 2 - Les médias et les publicités 

This unit is very relatable for the students. They will learn how to describe their daily routine, how to ask questions and how to use the past tense. They will explore a variety of different medias, including advertising and news reporting. 

Unit 3 - Le cinéma
This unit is a ton of fun! Students will study French cinema, learn how to write a movie critique, and sharpen their language skills! 

The grammatical concepts studied during this unit are:
- question words 
- le passé composé (the past tense) using "avoir"
- le passé composé using "être" 

Unit 4 - Le voyage 

This unit will concentrate on the students learning how to discuss travel, which is an important skill to have because we are most likely to use our newly acquired language skills while travelling! 

The grammatical concepts studied during this unit are:
- le futur proche
- le futur simple

Bonpatron.com is a grammar and spelling checker that finds common French errors.  Use the website to help you correct your work.  Make sure that you always submit all of you rough work for every assessment and evaluation.

Wordreference.com is an online dictionary that will help you to find unknown words and common expressions.  

Leconjuguer.com is a useful website to help with conjugating French verbs and where you will find some general French grammar information.

Lepointdufle.net is a great website for practicing and reviewing the grammar concepts taught and studied in class.
