INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS (BBI2O1)

Course Description
This course introduces students to the world of business.  Students will develop an understanding of the fundamentals and functions of business, including accounting, marketing, information technology, market research, human resources, and production, and the importance of ethics and social responsibility.  They will also engage in a financial activity that replicates real life and build a strong understanding of financial responsibilities. This course builds a foundation for further studies in business and helps students develop the business knowledge and skills they will need in their everyday lives.

What do we do?
Learn about how business impacts our daily lives, the community and the world.

Major Task
Develop a game board or complete a case study - student choice!

  • Marketing - Make a new product from scratch and compete for the best marketing plan!
  • APPS R US - Develop the idea for an app and pitch it to the class
  • Country in a Bag - Research a country and their business practices and trends, all while creating a visual to show off your country's culture
  • It's My Life - Enter into the financial world of independent living. Create a budget, buy a house, lease a car, go shopping and discover how finances play into our daily lives
  • Fakebook - Develop a profile for a famous entrepreneur and have some fun creating posts and videos!
  • Monopoly - Let's play some Monopoly and track our money (in a Balance Sheet of course!)

This course counts as one credit toward the Business Certificate.
