  • Fall Sports Physicals will take place at Howard High School on Thursday June 11, 2015 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm in the Nurse's Office across from the Media Center.
  • The cost for the sports physical is $30 per student.  Cash, check (payable to Lions' Pride), or $33 for credit card.

  • Howard HS will be holding its Incoming Student Sports Night on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  After a brief overview of the athletics program by Mr. Michael Duffy, Athletics and Activities Manager, there will be individual breakout sessions with the fall sports coaches to answer questions about fall sports and the tryouts, which will be starting on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.  We hope to see you there.
  • The presentation from tonight's meeting is linked below.

Physicals MUST be dated April 1, 2015 OR LATER to be acceptable for the 2015-2016 school year.

ImPACT concussion baseline test is a test of cognitive function including memory and reaction time.  The purpose of the testing is to determine normal brain function levels that later can be used to help determine when it is appropriate for the athlete to safely return to play in the event of a head injury.

The  Howard County Public School System procedures required  all student athletes who wish to try out for a contact/collision sport to take ImPACT prior to trying out.  Even if a student is considering trying out for a fall sport, he/she should take advantage of testing in May.    If a student does not take the ImPACT test prior to trying out this could jeopardize his/her chances of making the team.  Testing must be completed at Howard High School.  Testing cannot be completed at a doctor's office or any other school in the HCPSS.

Transfer students who still have a valid test must contact the athletic trainer prior to testing.

The link to register for ImPACT baseline testing is below.
