Cooperative Education is a program that allows students to bridge the gap between their school studies and the world of work. Co-op students expand their learning experiences through paid employment in a supervised, educational work setting related to their major field of study or career focus. Students participating in the Cooperative Education program at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center will continue their studies at their sending school but replace their training time at the Career Center with a preapproved worksite.

Guidelines for Cooperative Education Approval

  • Students must be recommended or get approval from their CTC instructor.
  • Attendance must be 95% or better.
  • A grade of 80% or better must be maintained in all courses in which the student is enrolled including academic and physical education courses.
  • Students must have completed 70% of the Program of Study task list.
  • Discipline issues can be grounds for denial into the program.
  • Students must be 16 years or older. Students under 18 years of age must obtain a workers permit from there sending school.
  • Students can only be placed in occupations, which relate to their program of study.
  • Students must provide their own transportation.
