GRADE BREAKDOWN:
Evaluation is based on student participation (see "Student Progress" tab on the left), and completely and creatively meeting the requirements provided. Even though Art can be subjective, grading your art projects it totally objective. Each project will need to follow guidelines and instructions given. Students may submit revised projects for grade improvement (this may require making a new project). Unfinished artwork is not accepted. If the project requires extra time to be completed, it is the student's responsibility to make arrangements with me prior the due date. Unless an assignment specifically requires copying, it will be interpreted in the same manner as plagiarism and is not acceptable.

Each project will receive a grade based on criteria:

A 90-100

B 80-89

C 70-79

D 60-69

F Below 60

Course Descriptions:  

ART1 Art 1 is designed for students with all artistic ability levels and skills. Successful completion of this class will allow you to sign up for the advanced course. The student explores the elements of art and design through the manipulation of a variety of materials and techniques. Students will learn how to analyze the construction of drawings and paintings through their understanding of the elements of line, shape, form, space, value, texture, and color.

ART2Students explore the principles of art and design through the manipulation of a variety of materials and techniques. Technical emphasis is on the continued demonstration and application of fundamental techniques of drawing. Emphasis is on the expression of ideas using the vocabulary of design principles (pattern, contrast, rhythm and movement, balance, unity and emphasis). Students will learn how to analyze the construction of drawing and paintings through their understanding of design principles and vocabulary. The importance of personal experience in the expression of original ideas will be stressed.
