Welcome

Welcome to Room 23! I am very excited to introduce myself to you as your child’s K-3rd grade SDC teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. I have high expectations for the scholars this year and believe firmly in the Hawthorne School District mission of maximizing each student’s potential to achieve educational excellence. 

In order for our scholars to reach their fullest potential and achieve all of their goals, I believe collaboration between the school and home is essential. In order to develop this sense of collaboration and community, establishing and maintaining communication about your child’s progress is key. Please feel free to contact with questions or concerns at any time as I will also contact you to discuss your child’s progress and growth throughout the year. 


Classroom Needs 

If you would like to help keep our classroom supplied with school materials we are always in need of the following items:
  • Copy Paper
  • Baby Wipes
  • Paper Towels
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Disinfectant Wipes
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
I also utilize Donors Choose in order to get more expensive projects funded for our classroom. If you would like to donate toward one of our classroom projects please use the link below to view our classroom page and see what project we are currently trying to fund. .  Due to previous donations we have had iPads, sensory tools, Chromebooks and manipulatives all purchased for our classroom.

Parent Communication 

I am always available to meet and talk with you about concerns, progress, and to share all achievements with you. I am available via email (vrocha@hawthorne.k12.ca.us), in person before and after school, and through ClassDojo. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I find ClassDojo to be the most convenient way as it is a free app you can download on your phone and allows us to message each other directly.  ClassDojo log on information will be sent home with your access code.
