Home Furniture Restoration

A do-it-yourself course designed to give you the basic knowledge and skills to restore various kinds of wood furniture.  You will learn how to- identify good furniture vs. bad, antiques vs. re-productions; how to strip, stain, and varnish worthwhile pieces; refurbish without refinishing saving you a lot of time and money; tell the difference between finishes and be able to repair them; basic weave crafts like caning, wicker and rattan; how to maintain furniture here in this tropical environment; what products keep outdoor wood looking good; restore instruments like ukuleles and guitars and much more.  Students are encouraged to bring a small wood furniture piece from home to work on for this hands-on learning class.   [6 hours]

Instructor:  Instructor Steve Farrell has over 40 years of experience in furniture repair and restoration and currently operates his own furniture repair business.
