The Joy of Wine

Do you long to better understand, order, pair, and enjoy wine? In this four class course is designed to help students improve their understanding and appreciation of wine. You will be introduced to four major topics: what wine is; how wine is made; how to properly taste wine, and how wine and food interact together. Each class will begin with a lecture and then followed by actual tasting. MUST BE 21YRS+ TO ATTEND

Instructor: Jeff Wood attended The Court of Master Sommeliers training class and is a Certified Sommelier. For 25 years he has managed and developed restaurant wine lists, trained staff and staged for and wine dinners.[9hours]

Bartending & Cocktail Preparation

This 20 hour course will start you on your way toward becoming an accomplished bartender.  Through hands-on practice, you will master the techniques of creating mixed alcoholic beverages.  You will also be exposed to the laws and regulations related to alcohol beverage service and the history and background of numerous beverage recipes, spirits, wines, and beers.  Prerequisite: Students must be 21 years of age or older by the first day of class.

Instructor: William “Billy” Gibson is a well-known retired KCC Culinary Arts Assistant Professor and former food and beverage manager who received his training at Denver University in Business Administration and Hotel and Restaurant Management.  He also attended San Francisco City College and San Diego City College and graduated with degrees in the same disciplines.  Billy has worked for well-known hotels such as Coco Palms, Kaua‘i Hilton, and the Stouffer’s Top of the Rockies Cocktail Lounge.
