Iʻm from a small town in Iowa originally and now I live near Des Moines.

I teach Spanish and Honors Seminars at Des Moines Area Community College. I'm also a PhD student in Applied Linguistics & Technology at Iowa State University.

One thing that you should know about me is I am a go-getter (who can be a little impatient). I am involved in a lot of projects and I'm excited to be a part of the Iowa World Language Association Executive Board and working to move world language education forward in Iowa by helping to write model competencies for Iowa based on ACTFL and NCSSFL.

A key idea or experience that has significantly influenced my philosophy of teaching and learning most recently is the returning emphasis toward language proficiency as our goal. It's not really new, but to me, it's exciting to see it return to the forefront. This has led me to explore the best ways to help students meet that goal. I am excited to work on updating our competencies at DMACC and employing PBLL with my students to better meet proficiency goals.
