Spring 2015 

Elementary Spanish II
This is a 4 credit course.  It is the second of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at any college or university including the UH system.  This is also a Running Start class. This course is available as an onsite class and a distance class.

Text: web access code for Portales chapters 6-10. 
  • Both the onsite and distance classes use the same website. 
  • The access code will not be available in the bookstore. Details on how to order will be in Laulima, including a link to the custom order site.
SPAN 102, MW 1000-1005a and TR 0925-1049a.  This course meets 4 days per week
  • Students who are unable to attend either MW or TR can attend only MW or TR and submit assignments as a distance student for the days they can not attend in person. These students should register in the onsite section, CRN #43084. 
  • Students will meet in a computer lab and submit online assignments during class.  They will complete all voice recording activities in class with the instructor, and work on writing exercises. They will finish the online assignments on their own time. 
SPAN 102,WWW  This is the online version of the above course.  
  • All assignments will be submitted online.
  • Assignments will be due 4 days each week.
  • Distance students will have to submit voice recordings. There are 3 types of recordings: 
    • individual recordings;
    • chats with a computer generated virtual partner;
    • 1 or 2 partner chats per chapter which will require a partner from class for paired voice recordings using a webcam. 
  • Distance students will find a partner at the beginning of the semester to use for the partner chat activities; instructions will be in Laulima.
  • Students are encouraged to use the same partner from last semester, if both are in the class this semester.

Intermediate Spanish II

SPAN 202, WWW. This is a 3 credit course.  It is the fourth of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at any college or university, including the UH system.

  • Students will not have partner chats; they will only submit individual voice recordings.
  • Students may have either one live webcam chat with the instructor or may record one short speech at a university testing center.
  • Text: Facetas 3e (a one semester grammar review text) + supersite web access code (includes online workbook and e-text). Information on ordering the text will be in Laulima.  


Fall 2015 - tentative

  • This is a 3 credit course.  It is the third of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at any college or university, including the UH system.
  • This is a online course that has assignments due twice a weekAll assignments (written and voice recordings) are submitted online.
  • Text: PORTALES loose leaf student text, lessons 11-14 + web access code for the online website where all assignments will be submitted. The access code will not be available in the bookstore. Details on how to order will be in Laulima, including a link to the custom order site.
