Welcome! You will find my teaching and office schedule for Fall 2013 below. I have also listed my  teaching schedule for spring 2014.  If you need to contact me, email is best.

Teaching Schedule:

Fall 2013:  Office hours: Mon. and Wed. 11.00-noon in my office or via Google chat.  Students who need extra help but can not meet at that time should make an appointment to meet at another time.  There is also a Spanish tutor in the Learning Commons in the library.

Elementary Spanish I:  Students will use a paper text in addition to an e-text which they will access via computer.  All assignments are submitted online.  This course is available as an onsite course and a distance course.  This is a 4 credit course.  It is the first of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at most colleges and universities, including the UH system.  This is also a Running Start class.

Text: En Linea 3.0 + web access code for the online e-text workbook + loose leaf student text, chapters 1-6.

SPAN 101, MW 1000-1005a and TR 0925-1049a.  This course meets 4 days per week.  Students who are unable to attend either MW or TR can take this class as a distance student, attend only MW or TR, and submit assignments as a distance students for the days they can not attend in person.  Students will meet in a computer lab and submit online assignments during class.  They will finish the online assignments on their own time. 

SPAN 101,WWW  This is the online version of the above course.  
All assignments will be submitted online.  Assignments will be due 4 days each week.   Distance students will have at least one live webcam chat with the instructor.  Students in this course can join in the onsite course live or via webcam, when their schedule permits.

Intermediate Spanish I:  Students will use a paper text in addition to an e-text which they will access via computer.  All assignments are submitted online.  This course is available as an onsite course and a distance course.  This is a 3 credit course.  It is the third of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at most colleges and universities, including the UH system.

Text: En Linea 3.0 + web access code for the online e-text workbook + loose leaf student text, chapters 13-18.

SPAN 201, MW 0130-0245p.  This course meets 2 days per week for 45 minutes each in a computer lab. All computer activities will be practiced in the lab classroom. Students must submit assignments as a distance student for the days they can not attend in person.

SPAN 201, WWW.  This is a online course that has assignments due twice a week.  Students in this course can join in the onsite course live or via webcam, when their schedule permits.  Distance students will have at least one live webcam chat with the instructor. 

Spring 2014

SPAN 102, MW 1000-105a and TR 0925-1049a, or WWW.  This is a 4 credit course that meets 4 days per week, or online.  

Students who are unable to attend either MW or TR can take this class and attend only MW or TR and submit assignments as a distance students for the days they cannot attend in person.  Students will meet in a computer lab and submit online assignments during class. They will finish the online assignments on their own time.  Distance students might have one live webcam chat with the instructor.

This course is the second of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at most colleges and universities, including the UH system.  

This is a Running Start class.


SPAN 202, WWW.   This is a 3 credit course that meets WWW.   Students will have either one live webcam chat with the instructor or will record one short speech at a university testing center.  

Text: Facetas 3e (a one semester grammar review text) + supersite web access code (includes online workbook and e-text).   Information on ordering the text is in Laulima.  

This course is the forth of 4 Spanish courses which can be used to fulfill the 4 semester language requirement at most colleges and universities, including the UH system.
