A. Requirements

Welcome to Healthy Leeward Living. We are excited to have you onboard as an intern. Your help will be valuable to the process of securing funding for programs that we hope will help improve the quality of life on the Leeward coast.

Your task will be to put together a possible proposal that could be submitted to secure federal funding for a project that can help the community. As we acknowledge the variety of issues affecting the community, we are allowing you the freedom to choose your own project. Though you will create a proposal, we will have the final say about whether it will be submitted.

Your proposal should have the following components:

  • Identify and establish a current problem in the community, including a discussion of who is affected
  • Look at current and alternative possible solutions to the problem
  • Put forth your idea of the best solution (current actions, modified actions, or new actions), including a discussion of how the solution can be measured
  • Address possible objections to your solution

Action Plan:

  • Research
  • Outline
  • Presentation
  • Draft
  • Peer Review
  • Final Submission
Tips for Success:
Keep in mind your purpose - to persuade your audience to give you money. This means you must sound trustworthy, knowledgeable, and persuasive.
