Welcome to Healthy Leeward Living. I would like to personally welcome you to our organization.

We are very excited to include interns in our team, which works to better the health and well-being of the Leeward community. Your research and ideas will be very valuable to the organization. In your first months here, you will learn to identify and explore community problems, prepare researched documents, propose solutions to the researched problems, and share your ideas with the community. You will also learn to work effectively in teams as well as individually, and communicate in a clear and professional manner. These assignments may take you out of your comfort zone and push you to think in new ways. However, we are certain that the excitement of solving these challenges will more than make up for the difficulties you might encounter.

We expect each of you to make the community’s needs your priority by contributing to your team and producing quality, finished products on time. We have worked hard to develop a reputation for excellence as a resource to the community. I hope you will be an integral part of helping us maintain this reputation.

About Our Organization

Healthy Leeward Living is a non-profit community organization that is focused on the health of the Leeward community. We explore issues of physical and mental health, education, environment, and culture, and provide resources and community outreach to the public. We are committed to the betterment of Leeward Oahu and its residents.

Our mission is to:

  • Identify issues concerning the Leeward community
  • Assessing possible solutions to community concerns
  • Propose solutions to identified problems and provide resources to the public

Your Role

You will play an integral role in the development of community outreach programs. You are tasked with identifying issues of concern and providing research that will help the organization develop proposals to address these concerns.

Your major responsibility will be working on teams to explore problems concerning Leeward residents through observation, interviews, and research. You will learn how to evaluate and synthesize information to be critical in your thinking. You will need to be dependable, flexible, and creative in your projects to best serve your team. While you will be free to develop your projects you still must report to me in a professional manner.
