Discovery Club (grades 1-8), and Access 21 (grades 9-12) are funded by 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and by the Haverhill Public Schools. Discovery Club is offered to students at Bradford Elementary, Golden Hill, Tilton, Consentino (including Bartlett grades 1 & 2), and J.G. Whittier Schools. Access 21 is offered to students at Haverhill High School.

During the school year, elementary and middle school Discovery Club runs five days a week for an hour before school. After school, Bradford, Golden Hill and Tilton Discovery Club operate until 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Consentino and J.G. Whittier programs operate Monday through Thursday until 4:45 p.m. On Fridays, Consentino operates for grades 1-4 until 4:45 p.m.

During Discovery Club, a teacher and a paraprofessional assist 15 to 20 students with homework for forty-five minutes. An hour of academic enrichment or recreational activity is provided by program staff or community partners. Students in elementary grades have physical activity at least once a week, and a varied schedule of enrichment, which may include art, health, STEM, and literacy. Middle school students choose from a menu of activities and have the chance to change activities three times a year. A snack and transportation home are provided. Regular attendance is a requirement of continued participation.

Access 21 at Haverhill High School offers a variety of courses, one or two days a week. Offerings include Internship, Robotics, Glee Club, Scrubs Club, Culinary Skills, and Life Skills Enrichment. Internship is offered in the fall and spring semester. The other activities meet continuously throughout the school year.

Occasional field trips or visiting outreach programs may be scheduled during the year.

The seven sites serve over 500 students in grades 1 to 12. Members have the use of the school facilities including classrooms, computer labs, gymnasiums, and libraries.

Discovery Club and Access 21 will make reasonable accommodations to serve students. Members must be able to participate in a group situation, and maintain the activities of daily life. Discovery Club/Access 21 does not provide one-on-one staffing, tutoring, or individual nursing coverage. The staff to student ratio is one to ten.
