Using Spreadsheets

Chemistry Activities with Spreadsheets:

Unit: Introduction to Chemistry

The Volume vs. Mass Labette: Includes the skill of creating XY Scatter Plots, adding a trendline, and creating an XY scatter plot that compares more than one data set.

Unit: Stoichiometry

Determining the Formula of a Hydrate Labette: Includes using the spreadsheet to perform mathematical functions for you, and plotting xy-scatter plots to determine a mole-to-mole ratio.

Mole-to-Mole Ratio Lab: Includes creating an xy scatter plot with more than one data set.


Unit: Introduction to Reactions in Solution

The Conductivity Lab(Honors): Includes skills like separating values from the form (x,y) into two columns, finding averages in data, plotting xy-scatter plots (see The Volume vs. Mass Labette for this skill), and creating bar graphs.

Unit: Gases

The Mathematical Relationship Between Volume and Pressure: Includes using the spreadsheet to perform mathematical functions in an attempt to find a mathematical relationship (one of the goals of chemistry/physics is finding formulas that we can use to predict future phenomena).

Unit: Kinetics (AP)

The Crystal Violet Lab: Includes using the spreadsheet to perform mathematical functions in an attempt to find a mathematical relationship. Also includes xy-scatter plots with trendlines to visualize the mathematical relationships.









Physics Activities with Spreadsheets:
