Spring is finally here with all the sights, sounds, and fragrances that come with it. April will be bursting with things for our Helpful Honey Bees to do. We are excited to welcome our new month with a Spring Fling Party today, April 3 from~ Many thanks to Melissa Jeruzal and Sophie Gilleron for organizing this fun celebration.
As you have probably heard by now, the children have been busy practicing songs for the upcoming Kindergarten Spring Play. The event will take place on, and the cast party will immediately follow. More details will follow, but we wanted to remind you that we will be meeting , right after school in order to plan costumes, scenery, etc. Many thanks to those of you who are planning to attend the planning meeting and to those who have offered to help but cannot join us for the meeting. We will share our ideas. Also, you may notice several nights on the Homework Log that we have designated as "play practice" nights so that the children can go over their lines with you. Please help them to memorize the lines, say them slowly and clearly, and to add expression. It is going to be a fun show!
Our Spring Play has a farm theme, so we have been introducing our farm unit a little early this year. We are focusing on pigs, chickens, cows, and goats for the play, but we love all farm animals! Later in the month we will be talking about animals in our "backyard" habitats in order to prepare for our trip to Eden Mill Nature Center on.
Conferences with your child's homeroom teachers are scheduled forevening and morning. We will talk about areas of progress, areas to work on, and make plans for keeping skills sharp over the summer. Please bring any questions you may have, and we will try to answer them for you. We are all looking forward to meeting with you. Then, morning, , everyone is invited to hop on over to the Bunny Breakfast at Harford Day School from
A Baseball themed Hot Lunch is planned for. School will be closed on . When we return, we will get ready for our field trip to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on to see "Beethoven's Nifty Numbers." On the way home, we will stop at Prigel's Family Creamery for ice cream and hopefully a peek at some of their cows. We will send a Constant Contact message for this trip soon. It is the one trip where we have a limited number of seats for chaperones.
If you are looking for some good books, we are celebrating the works of Hans Christian Andersen as our author this month. The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match Girl, Emperor's New Clothes, and The Princess and the Pea are just a few of the titles you may want to check out. We are looking forward to the month ahead with your wonderful children. They are a delight to work with. We are grateful for their amazing parents and for all that you do!
