Dear Tremendous Turtle Families,

We are rolling along, and we’re all beginning to feel comfortable in our shell.  You have prepared your children well for our program.  We sincerely hope that each child will enjoy his or her kindergarten experience as much as we enjoy teaching them.  Our main goals are to make school a place of wonder and to have pleasant learning experiences in a socially happy atmosphere.  We hope to create a solid foundation for each child’s academic life.

Our thanks to everyone for your cooperation at drop off and pick up times.  Everyone is getting here right on time which enables us to begin our day promptly.  We thank you!  Dismissal time routines are going a little more smoothly.  It helps us a lot for you to display your car pool cards in the right hand window.

Thank you to everyone for doing a great job on your first family homework project.  We have loved hearing about how each child’s special name was chosen.  There will be more to come!  The children are excited to have homework, especially if there are big brothers or sisters at home doing theirs.  Enjoy this brief period.  Homework readers and sight words will be offered in the weeks ahead.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone here for Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 14th, from 7:00-9:00 PM.  If you are available, please join us for a reception with Dr. Smith and Mrs. Wilkes at 6:30 PM.  We will talk about our curriculum, expectations, field trips, show and tell, conferences, birthdays, hot lunches, celebrations, and so much more!  We will also answer any questions you may have.  Mark your calendars, as each child will have some creative artwork displayed that you won’t want to miss.

Other dates coming up to ask your child about:

                  ~Founder’s Day Celebration 9/8

~International Day of Peace on 9/22

~Visit from our “bee man,” Jim Zink on 9/26

~Welcome Friends Hot Lunch on 9/27

Dexter the Dragon helped us introduce our school wide theme for September, Responsibility and Self-Discipline, at Morning Gathering Wednesday.  Teachers will be choosing a  Dexter Ranger for September soon!  We are getting plenty of practice organizing our lockers and cleaning up at Tub Time.  We are excited to begin our Turtley Awesome school year with your wonderful children!

Advice from a Turtle

Come out of your shell

Be well-rounded

Slow down

Know when to stick your neck out
