Harbor City School Assessments

For the MDE required assessments here is an explanation from MDE:
2017-2018 testing schedule explained
The following information explains the implementation of the assessment system in legislation to ensure all students are prepared for career and college. Students who first enrolled in grade 8 in 2012–2013 will take the career and college assessments to meet graduation assessment requirements.
  • Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, 9 and 10 grade students will take the Math and Reading MAP tests. These scores will be used to track student learning over the course of the school year, as well as prepare students for the MCA tests in the Spring.
  • Math, Reading, and Science MCA  will continue in the current grade levels in spring and will be used for state and federal accountability calculations.
  • The college entrance exam, ACT, will be available to students in 11 grade.

AP Testing
The 2018 AP Exams at HCIS will be administered may 15th through 17th. Early testing or testing at times other than those published by the College Board is not permitted under any circumstances. All students need to be in the testing room at 8:00am on the morning of the test. Most tests take about three and half hours to complete and will include one ten minute break. Students are expected to have read the information in the “AP Bulletin for Students & Parents,” attached below. A pre-administration session on May 9th during CP will be the final step in preparing to take the test.
