School Counselor’s Update-January 2017

Our School Counseling intern, Rebecca Vandenberg had her baby (baby Ella) and finished her internship with us just before the holiday break. The internship experience is always a two way learning process. It's a great time to look critically at what we do and why we do it.

At the soon-to-be midpoint of the school year we have been:
  • Continuing teaching Affective Education classes in various grade levels throughout the school
  • Meeting with families, teachers, and administrators
  • Matching up SIBS (aka formerly Big Brother/Big Sisters) from the Dartmouth College's Tucker Foundation with eligible students
  • Teaching Care for Kids Lessons to kindergartners
  • Working with small groups of students and individual students
  • Reviewing our Affective Education Curriculum

We are also pleased to say that all of our fifth grade volunteer positions have been filled (Haven Helpers, Bus Monitors, Tour Guides) and are up and running! Thank you to all our students who are volunteering and doing this important work in our community.

We’ll also try to keep our website updated with other important resources, news, and upcoming events as the year continues!
