Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! I am excited to be teaching 4th graders.

I expect homework to take no more than 30 minutes each night. Please let me know if your child is struggling to meet that expectation so I can provide help and support. In addition, if there is ever a time homework cannot be completed please jot me a note so your child and I can make a plan. There are many opportunities for students to enrich or extend their learning with challenging work. Students can search Khan Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org/), choose an Olympiad, get problems from NCTM site (http://illuminations.nctm.org/), or from the Dr. Math website http://mathforum.org/dr/math/.

Conversely, there is lots of opportunity for practicing and reviewing all math skills and concepts on IXL (https://www.ixl.com/signin/marioncross). I also recommend the Math is Fun site (http://www.mathsisfun.com/) - a wonderful resource for math definitions, games, puzzles, activities and forums for students and parents. Looking forward to a fun and productive year!
