German Program:  Overview

The German program offers a sequence of courses ranging from Practical German, a pre-German 1 course with a focus on culture and a measured pace, to German 3 Honors.

Students in the German program will acquire a detailed understanding of the culture in German speaking countries and develop all four language competencies - reading, listening, writing and speaking. In comparison and contrast to English, students will learn to describe and analyze both languages, investigating their similar roots in terms of vocabulary and grammatical structures as well as learning about cognates and international words used in both languages.
