A.D. Stowell School Parent and Family Engagement Policy

A.D. Stowell School Parent and Family Engagement Policy

The A.D. Stowell School Parent and Family Engagement Policy is a comprehensive plan intended to assist in developing a meaningful partnership between families and school. The desired result of

this policy is a school where families feel welcome and can make a significant contribution to their child's education.  We will attempt to involve parents in meaningful and regular two-way communication addressing student achievement and ensuring:

*    that parents play an integral role in assisting their child's  learning.

*    that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education.

*    that parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making to assist in the education of their child.

In compliance with Every Student Succeeds Act, A.D. Stowell Elementary agrees to:

*    Involve parents in an Annual Review of the Title I Program and use the results of the Annual Review to address any identified barriers to parental participation.

o     Spring Title I Evaluation/Review  Meeting

*    Involve parents in the development, implementation, and review of

Parent/Student/Teacher Compacts and A.D. Stowell Parent Involvement Policy.

o     Annual Fall Informational Meeting

o     Spring Title I Evaluation/Review  Meeting

*    Involve parents in the planning and development of effective parent involvement activities through representation on our building's Family Involvement Committee.

o     Monthly Family Involvement Committee Meetings

*    Build the school's and parent's capacity for parent involvement by:

Providing parents with information on Title I eligibility and services offered.

o     Fall Annual Title Informational Meeting

o   Parent Involvement Plan

*   Providing materials, resources, and training to help parents work with their children to improve academic achievement.

o     Back to School Night

o     Family Involvement/Educational Workshop Nights

A.D. Stowell will make a concerted effort to keep parents involved in and informed about the academic lives of their students. The school will use phone calls, emails, reading logs, notes, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Progress Reports to show parents we are serious about the home-school relationship and will include all facets of the students' lives. Attendance, discipline, and academics will all be included in discussions with parents.

At the end of each school year, a needs assessment review will be conducted by our school. This survey will allow parents input in the evaluation of our Title l program and its effectiveness. The survey results will be evaluated and the Title I Services and Parent

Involvement Policy will be revised to reflect parent input and continue improving academic performance.
