Pastor: Jeff Armbrester
Pastor Jeff is originally from Munford, AL. His family worshiped at Stockdale Baptist Church, where he made a profession of faith at age six, and at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, which provided him with a foundation in Methodism in preparation for his call to ordained ministry. In the summer of 1982 while attending a youth retreat at Camp Sumatanga, Pastor Jeff heard God call him to ordained ministry. A few years later in 1987 he was appointed to his church charge, a circuit of two small churches, Lebanon and Danville United Methodist Churches. While serving these two churches, Jeff married Lisa and completed a BA in Religion at Athens State College in Athens, AL. After college Lisa and Jeff moved to the Atlanta, GA area to attend seminary at Candler School of Theology, Emory University where he earned his Master of Divinity Degree. While attending seminary, Jeff work part-time at Zoar United Methodist Church in Lithonia, GA. Upon graduation from Candler School of Theology, the Armbresters returned to Alabama to serve in the North Alabama Conference. Since seminary Jeff and Lisa’s family grew with the addition of three boys: Adam, Aaron, and Seth. Pastor Jeff and his family came to Hamilton UMC in June of 2013. “The people of Hamilton are great! We felt like we were home as soon as we arrived. We look forward to all that God is in store for the congregation of Hamilton UMC and we are excited to be a part of it,” says Pastor Jeff. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Pastor Jeff enjoys woodworking, hunting and fishing with friends, camping with his family, and other outdoor activities. Michele Parker is originally from Hatley, Mississippi. She has two little boys, Hunter and Cooper. Michele began working at Hamilton UMC in November 2014 after serving at another local church for almost two years. In her free time, Michele enjoys watching SEC sports, spending time with family & friends, and watching her boys play little league sports. “This job opportunity is truly a blessing from God. This is a wonderful group of folks here at Hamilton UMC...I'm so glad to be here!” says Michele. Donald and Sheila Jones have been worship leaders for Hamilton UMC since 2007. At that time, the leadership of the church decided to explore a “blended” worship service incorporating praise songs in one part of the service and songs from the United Methodist Hymnal in the other. The result has enhanced the worship experience for the entire congregation and is thought to reach diverse groups in the community. As worship leaders, the objective is to prepare the congregation for worship. Songs, choir anthems, cantatas, hand bells, and solos are selected to prepare all to receive the message by Bro. Jeff. Sheila and Donald both lead and play instruments as part of our newly formed Music Team. Other Music Team members are Lisa Armbrester, Adam Lolley, Judy Miller, Gloria Sandlin, Jeremy Streetman, and Sheilah Wiginton. The Jones couple agree that it is a joy to work with such an amazing choir. "The church has so much talent and committed choir members who sing from their heart. We are truly blessed to serve Hamilton United Methodist Church!" says Donald and Shelia.
