Templeton Finds Success at State

Templeton, the middle school that feeds into Hamilton, finished 5th place among medium-sized schools at the 2017 MLFA State Tournament. They had three students place in the top-3 in their category and had one individual state champion.

Power Round qualifiers were:

Lucas Hubred (Storytelling); Hiranmayi Swaminathan (Storytelling); Rishi Kothinti (Persuasive); Aayush Iyengar (Prose); Cameron Aron (Prose); and Theresa Barthel, Emilie Fuhr, and Kayla Johnson (Group Interp)

Three students walked away with trophies:

Lucas Hubred, 3rd Place, Storytelling

Aayush Iyengar, 2nd Place, Prose

Hiranmayi Swaminathan, STATE CHAMPION, Storytelling

--6 out of 15 entries (40%) advanced to the Power Rounds.

--1503 students attended the meet.

--Only 10% of kids at the meet will go on to power.

--All but one of Templeton's entries received a "blue ribbon" score, which means that they all achieved a 62 or above.
