At Grant Wood

SCALE-UP Classroom

The SCALE-UP classroom at Grant Wood AEA is a space where teachers, administrators, and agency employees can experience and experiment with student centered, creative, and collaborative learning environments in a space designed to be flexible to meet the diverse needs of students during the learning process.

The furniture and technologies selected for the SCALE-UP classroom were chosen to model developing trends in educational technology and furnishings.  These trends focus on the flexibility needed to meet the diverse needs of students as they explore, share, and create new ideas tied to their learning.

In addition to providing a look at developing educational furnishings and technology, the SCALE-UP classroom will conduct professional development about  pedagogies that facilitate a creative and collaborative student-centered environment while modeling those pedagogies.

The learning space and pedagogies modeled in the SCALE-UP Classroom are intended to help teachers develop new ways to prepare their students for their success in our future society.  The Universal Constructs from the Iowa Core  can help in preparing students for the skills they will need to be successful in their future work and society.
