Gustavus alum Matt Swenson spoke on 11/18 as the first speaker in M-Pact's Gustavus Men's Lives Series.

Matt Swenson, Gustavus class of 2006, is a communication specialist with the Minnesota House of Representatives. During the 2010 election cycle, Swenson served as press secretary for Margaret Anderson Kelliher's campaign for Governor. He is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Concordia University in St. Paul, and a freelance political communication consultant.

Matt is also very active in his community and local politics. He hasserved on the West Mississippi Watershed Commission, the Senate District 64 DFL Central Committee, and as precinct chair for his neighborhood DFL party.

Matt graduated from Gustavus with a double major in political science and communication studies, and a minor in art studio. He earned a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute in 2009, with concentrations in social policy and communication strategy for public affairs.
