About the Director

Jim DeBusk is a Native Arizonan who received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Grand Canyon University, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  He is currently in his 24th year as director of Choirs at Washington High School where he also serves as Department Chair for the Performing Arts Department and Director of the Film and TV Department. He has served many positions in the Arizona Music Educator’s Association including President of the Choral Directors of Arizona, All State Jazz Choir Chairman, and Governor of the AMEA Northwest Region. He is currently serving his third term as Northwest Regional Governor. He has served as a clinician for the Eastern Arizona College Choral Festival, the Northwest Region Jr. High Honor Choir and the Scottsdale District Honor Choir. He is also the Associate Director of the Sonoran Desert Chorale, a semi-professional choir that performs regularly in Mesa, Scottsdale and Phoenix, and tours internationally.
