At the completion of the course, all students should be able to do the following:

1.    Think, read, listen, write, and communicate with understanding at a higher academic and personal level.

2.    Dissect and analyze text and use the information to assess and articulate rhetorical strategies used by the author.

3.    Flesh out a series of questions that challenges a text's meaning and shows understanding of the document.

4.    Prepare and execute multiple paragraph writing tasks, timed and not.

5.    Organize and implement a response to literature, expository essay, persuasive essay, and rhetorical response.

6.    Coordinate and perform oral presentations.

7.    Utilize a variety of resources in planning and directing research for a mixture of projects, essays, and activities.
