Annual Guam Marathon



 

         

 



For the more versatile runner-sports enthusiast, there are a variety of activities available after the race. If you wanted to extend your visit, you could easily combine marathon recovery with some world-class diving. You can swim in warm, tropical waters with visibility to 30 feet. There are even opportunities to dive Guam, Rota and neighboring islands.

If you still want to use your legs after the race, but would like to slow it down some, you can hike to waterfalls that are found throughout Guam's interior. Hikes range from easy to difficult.

 

Our marathon follows a scenic path along Guam's coastline. This new course takes you past numerous historic markers and sites commemorating Guam's place in the Pacific theatre of WWII.

Guam is a beautiful island with hotels that are second to none anywhere. You can go top-of -the line or we can help you arrange economy digs.

 






The Guam Marathon and Marathon Relay   

Length:       26.2 miles  

Date:           Last Sunday in March    

Sign-in:       Pre-registered race.  Applications are due the Monday before the race.  Marathon runners must be 16 years old or older. Check in is at 3:30 am at the start at the UOG Fieldhouse. Relays are five person teams. Relay divisions are:  Male – Female - Mixed.

Start:          4:00am marathon 4:15am relay.  The start is 100 yards before the UOG Fieldhouse at the start of the curb.   

Course:       The course loops around UOG once, then proceeds to Rt. 10. Turn right on Rt. 10 to Rt. 4. Proceed to Paseo. Loop around Paseo and then south on Marine Corp Drive to USO. Right at USO to turn-a-round near family beach. Back to USO and then right on Marine Corp Drive. Proceed through Agat to finish at JanZee's.

Relay exchanges are at Linda’s J Market, Entrance Adelup, Turn-A-Round at Commercial Port, and Naval Station Pass & Decal Building.

Finish:        The finish line is at JanZee's.

Water:         The miles are marked on the pavement and there are 15 water stops. The first water stop is at 1.8 miles, then there are other water stops about every 2 miles the rest of the way.     

First Run:    The marathon was started by Joe Lawton in 1972 and is two years older than the Honolulu Marathon.      

Awards:      First six in each division and shirts and lunch for finishers in the marathon. First relay team in each division and tee shirts for all relay team members.
